The Old Cow Stall

The Old Cow Stall is dog friendly and sleeps 4 guests in two bedrooms. Each bedroom is comfy and spacious with the main room having a choice of a zip and link super king bed or two single beds. The other bedroom has a king size bed with original wood features. Both bedrooms have flat screen televisions, full length mirrors and space for cots (provided on request). Views from the bedroom windows lead to both sides of the valley hillside
The bathroom has a comfortable bath with shower and shower screen and heated towel rail.
The downstairs area is open plan with a spacious lounge/kitchen/diner and a separate W.C. The living space has a three seater and a two seater leather chestnut sofa, flat screen television and full length window with a view to the private patio and rear hillside.
The dining area seats four people comfortably with space for high chairs. Other baby equipment can also be provided with prior arrangement free of charge.
The Old Cow Stall has a modern, well equipped kitchen with integrated fridge and freezer, dish washer, washer/dryer, good quality microwave, kettle and toaster.
The Old Cow Stall has good wifi connection throughout.
Outside is an enclosed private patio area with seating for four people. Webber gas barbecues are available (with gas) during the warmer months.
There is off road parking for two cars under the old covered yard situated next to the barns.
Electric car charge point on site.

Essential Information: Televisions, DVD, Radio, Electric hob and oven, Washing machine, Microwave, Fridge, Freezer, Dishwasher, Bed linen, towels, tea towels and oven gloves included. Under floor heating throughout. Pets are welcome by arrangement charged at £20.00 per week. No smoking. Mobile phone reception is limited in Branscombe. There is good wifi connection throughout the barn.

How do I get to you?

It should be quite straight forward to find us, although the Branscombe lanes are quite narrow and during the summer months the Devonshire hedges are rather wide!

Come off at junction 30
At the Sandygate roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A376
(signposted Exmouth, Sidmouth)
At the second roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A3052 (signposted Seaton, Sidmouth)
Continue along road for approx 7 miles.
At mini-roundabout bear left onto the A3052 (signposted Lyme Regis)
Continue along this road for approx 5.5 miles.
Turn right onto Mire Lane (signposted Donkey Sanctuary)
At mini-roundabout take first exit
Continue down lane passing the ‘Fountain head’ pub on your left.
Pitt Farm is just past the row of cottages on your right. For The Lodge please park at Pitt Farm’s first entrance or for the other barns, continue onto the second entrance on the right.

From the A303 continue forward onto the A30 (signposted Honiton)
Branch left, then merge onto the A35
At T-junction turn left onto Monkton Road - A35 (signposted Dorchester)
At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A35 (signposted Town Centre)
At traffic signals continue forward onto the A35 (signposted Other Routes A30)
At the next roundabout take the 1st exit onto the A375 (signposted Sidmouth)
At roundabout take the 2nd exit onto the A375
At roundabout (with Tesco on your left) take the 2nd exit onto the A375
At the ‘Hare and Hounds’ pub turn left
Continue down the lane until your reach a T-junction
Turn right onto the A3052
Take the next left signposted Branscombe and Bullstone
Follow lane until you reach ‘Coxes Cottage’ then turn left
Continue down lane passing the ‘Fountain head’ pub on your right.
Pitt Farm is just past the row of cottages on your right. For The Lodge please park at Pitt Farm’s first entrance or for the other barns continue onto the second entrance on the right.

What time can I arrive?

Your barn will be ready for your arrival by 4:00pm. If you would like to arrive earlier please contact us in advance and will will try our hardest to accommodate you.
Departure is 10:00am please.

Where can I find the key to my barn?

We generally leave the key to your property in the back of your barn door ready for your arrival. However, we are always available in the farm house and will welcome you in.

Who will be there to greet me?

Me (Jo) and Andrew live in the farm house situated in the same yard as your barn and should see you arrive. We will pop out to welcome you and show you around your property. If you have any questions or special requirements throughout your stay don't hesitate to come and have a chat with us.

How many dogs can I bring?

As a general rule we ask that prior arrangement for a maximum of 2 dogs are welcome per property. Please call/email us with any special requirements.

What is provided in my barn?

Tea, coffee, sugar cubes, biscuits and milk will be in your barn on arrival.
Each kitchen is well equipped with coordinating crockery and utensils for all guests. There is an electric cooker and hob, microwave, kettle, toaster, cafetieres (large and small) tea pots (large and small). washer/dryer, fridge, freezer and dishwasher. a bath towel and hand towel is provided for each guest with extra in the bathroom and wc. Non-slip bath mats and towel mats are in the bathrooms and tea towels and oven mits are in the kitchen. Under the sink you will find non-bio washing detergent, washing up liquid, floor cleaner and multi purpose spray (all products are Ecover). There is also kitchen foil, cling film, j-cloths and scourer sponges. There is a First Aid box and a torch and a toilet roll with each wc.
We can provide cots, highchair and other baby equipment with prior arrangement and also doggy items as necessary.
For a more detailed list, have any special requirements or require anything during your stay please let us know as soon as possible.

Where is the closest shop?

The closest large food retailer is either Waitrose (Sidford - 15 minute drive) or Tesco (Seaton- 15 minute drive). Both of these stores deliver, and we are more than happy to unload and pack away any orders that arrive before you do! There is a lovely farm shop 'Greendale' along the A3052 heading towards Exeter and other local shops in Beer (15 minute drive)

Do I need to book a table at the local pub?

We would always recommend booking a table in the evenings, especially if you are a larger party. If you do not know the area, please feel free to contact us for advice and recommendations and contact numbers.

Bob’s Barn

Named after Andrew’s father, Bob’s barn is the closest of the three converted barns to the main farm house. This barn was originally used for storing hay and farming utilities. When the farm stopped having cattle Bob would use this barn for storage of old motorbikes and other ‘toys’! It enjoys views of the hillside to the rear, where deer, foxes and pheasants regularly visit.
This barn sleeps four guest and welcomes dogs.
Out of the farm yard gate leads you through the fields and up to the public footpath taking you along the cliff side. Turning left takes you to Branscombe beach or further on to Beer, or turning right takes you to the beautiful town of Sidmouth.
Ample private parking for multiple cars with an electric charge point on site.

The Lodge

The Lodge is a detached, converted barn at the entrance of the old farm yard. Sleeping six people in three bedrooms, it has ground floor facilities and an enclosed front garden with a patio and seating area.
The Lodge welcomes dogs and encourages country and coastal walking come rain or shine!

Having once had the very important job of housing Grandma Gibbins' chickens and providing the family and much of the village with eggs, it was also used as a dropping off point for paper and rags collected by the girl guides during WW2. In the early 1980's The Lodge was converted into holiday accommodation and has been welcoming families ever since.
