1947 Geoff, Peggy, Peter and Bob

Grandad Geoff and Grandma Peggy originally rented Pitt Farm from the Ford estate. Like a lot of local farming families they worked hard and made money where they could. Dairy cattle were the main source of income. They grazed in the surrounding fields down to the church and up behind the Fountain Head Inn. Each day the cows would walk past the pub and down the lane to Pitt Farm to be milked. Just behind the barns were corrugated stys where the pigs lived and The Lodge housed the chickens.

A family run farm

In the mid sixties, Geoff and Peggy were able to buy Pitt Farm and the land that they rented, a huge testament to their hard work and good old British determination. Peter and Bob grew up on the farm, helping to run things whilst having fun!
From an early age it seemed that Bob had a greater preference for engines over animals. However, Peter continued farming into adulthood with his family nearby.

Steven, Andrew and Nipper the dog

Bob stayed on at the farm with his wife Angela and two children Steve and Andrew.
His love of cars continued and as farming became less fruitful, he turned his talents to becoming very successful in buying and selling cars, using the yard as a place to store his collection.
In 1981 Bob converted the Lodge to provide holiday accommodation for guests.

The Third Generation

We married in 2010.
Andrew, like his father has a passion for cars and previously worked in this sector. Jo has a background in early years childcare and further education.
Like the two generations of Gibbins' before us, we live in the farm house and have two boys, Tom and Ben who attend the local school and adore the freedom that Branscombe provides.
We hope to continue Geoff and Peggy's legacy...to work hard and embrace family life.

New Generation

Andrew turned his attention back to the farm in 2008.
In July of 2010 the conversion of the additional three stone buildings were completed and we began welcoming guests in the August.
In 2013 our biomass boiler was installed, which enables us to be more energy efficient throughout all the farm buildings.
During 2016 we became star rated with Quality in Tourism ensuring that we offer guests an experience worthy of our wonderful surroundings.
