The Donkey Sanctuary has 500 donkeys for you to see, snuggle or feed.
Simply turn up and enjoy this free attraction, or plan ahead and join in with a grooming session or a guided tour around the farmland.
Donkeys of all ages are resident at Slade Farm but a large percentage are elderly and remain here in order to be close to the veterinary hospital. Visitors are free to spend as much time as they wish meeting the donkeys in the Main Yard where they wander at will.
Very dog and child friendly, there is a maze (we’ve been genuinely lost in there many times) and a play area to let off steam. Plenty of footpaths take you past the donkeys and out to the cliff tops then back again to enjoy lunch at the onsite cafe/restaurant
The charity provides donkey assisted therapy for children and adults with additional needs. I’ve watched a couple of these sessions and they are truly magical. If you have someone that you think may benefit it could be worth you giving the sanctuary a call to see what they can provide.
